Membership

Climate Action Newtown Membership

Membership is open to individuals and organisations that:

Support the Objectives of Climate Action Newtown; and
Live in, work in, or have a strong connection with Newtown, Powys, or the surrounding area.

Membership Charges

Individual Membership is free of charge.
Organisational Membership charges depend on the type and size of the organisation.

By applying to become a Member you are confirming that:

You support CAN's objectives (as stated on the Objectives tab); and
You either
1. Live within 10 miles of Newtown (Powys); or
2. Have a specific reason for interest in the Newtown area. For example, you work in Newtown or have a family connections with the area. In this case, note on your specific interest in the comment box below.

Objectives

Climate Action Newtown Objectives

To encourage and enable residents, businesses and organisations in Newtown (Powys), and the surrounding communities to:

Reduce our collective carbon emissions to net-zero by 2030, by working together in creating a sustainable* resilient and thriving local economy.
Ensure all activities are founded wherever possible on strong partnerships and foster community cohesion, a sense of place and community spirit.
Develop the capacity and skills of members of our community in such a way that they are better able to identity, and help meet, their needs and to participate in a sustainable* society.

In these objectives the word "sustainable" means meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Communications

Climate Action Newtown Communications

Climate Action Newtown is committed to limiting emailings according to the options you have selected.
We will usually only repeat a mailing when it is necessary to correct an error or notify you of significant changes in the arrangements for a meeting or other event.
Climate Action Newtown members will also receive email notifications that we are required by law to provide to our members (e.g. notices of General Meetings and similar formal events).
