The purpose of CAN is:
- To encourage and enable residents, businesses, and organisations in Newtown (Powys) and the surrounding communities to reduce our collective carbon emissions to net-zero by 2030, by working together in creating a sustainable resilient and thriving local economy.

- Identify constructive actions that individuals, families, groups, businesses and local government can take to reduce the damage being done to the climate and environment.
- Inspire local people to reduce their carbon and environmental footprints to levels that offer a realistic path towards a sustainable future.
